HIGH VIEW

10 comments:

  1. This painting is a view I see from my home, looking from the high mesa across the city to the Sandia Mountains. It's painted on Bristol smooth.

  3. Sandeep, I see this view as I drive down the hill near my house--not from the living room! It is awesome. Thank you for your compliment on the painting.

    Thanks so much, June. :)

  5. I have just purchased my first set of gouache and am floundering a bit. But found your article in Watercolor and am encouraged. As I look at your small pieces I realize that maybe that is how I should start. Your color is so clear and clean and I love the scenery you have of your location. Loverly stuff. -Rita

  6. Deborah, This are ALL so wonderful!!! I have a question. Do you paint these all the way up to the edge of the paper? So the image and the paper are the 2.5 x 3.5?

  7. Thanks, Alex!

Rita, hope you enjoy working small. I find it helps me lose the idea that I'm 'risking' paper or paint, so I feel freer to play. Gouache is a fun and fairly forgiving medium, which I like. Have some fun--and thanks.

Hi Deb, thanks so much! Yep, I paint right to the edge of the ATC cards. What you see is what you get!

  8. I stopped by to see if you are still gouaching! When I scroll through your blog it makes me want to give it a go too. You have such good control over them. I know it takes some doing to learn how to paint in gouache...These paintings are just GREAT.

  9. Celeste, thank you! Gouache is a really versatile medium and a blast to use. It's forgiving and yet it has some rather spontaneous qualities that require a it of time to learn. I love it, though. I' doing a lot of figure paintings now, so most of my more recent gouache work is posted on my 'other' blog, http://deborahsecor.blogspot.com/

Glad you visited and I hope you do give gouache a go.

Thank you for commenting on my blog.

The Intention to Blog...

I always have such good intentions to post my paintings on this blog. (Isn't there something about the road paved with good intentions?)...
