New Snow
I have finally managed to get back to painting after the death of my mother in November. It's so nice to find the time and inclination.
As always on this blog, the size is 3.5" x 2.5", standard ATC/ACEO size. This is on Arches 300-lb. cold press, and is done as part of my personal challenge to get myself painting again. You can read more about that on my Art and Faith blog post here. I decided to paint domestic scenes, and this is the view right out my front window on a recent snowy day.

I 've become more and more intrigued with using watercolor techniques for the sky, just letting the paint do what it does when wet...

Beautiful Deborah!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you are back to painting.
Take care, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Grief takes a long time to get through. After my mom died in 1999, I think I reached for the phone to call her for at least a year. It takes time.
be gentle with yourself during this time:)

Deborah...this is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove your painting! Good to see you back at it. I lost my father in September and it took me a few months to get back to painting. Interesting that when I did I started concentrating on wildlife and birds (my first loves!) which were things I shared a passion for with my dad. It's taken my art in a new direction. Thanks for sharing. May God bring you healing and peace through your painting.

ReplyDeleteYour snowy tree is lovely. I always find inspiration in your paintings. Thank you for sharing them. There definitely is something about painting that is healing. I found it so after my mother passed away in December 2009 two days after her 95th birthday. May God wrap his loving arms around you as you walk through your time of grief. There is also joy in knowing your loved one is free of the pain and trouble of this earth.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Marilyn. I'm back to painting now, past what I think is the hardest part. Thank you for your warm wishes.
